With a big expansion happening, we are looking for an experienced office worker to manage some of our day to day administration.
East Kent Sudbury is a not-for-profit ground-breaking project set in the heart of East Kent. We provide a three-day-a-week self-directed democratic education for home-educated children aged between five and eighteen. You would be directly helping to change the face of education and joining a team of individuals who are passionate about self-directed/consent-based education and equal rights for children of all backgrounds and abilities.
The Position
The Office Administrator position is for three days a week, 9am-3pm. The closing date for applicants is Monday 29th August with the view to starting immediately.
EKS has seen significant growth over the last few years and is in the midst of our biggest expansion yet. You would be supporting Core Staff with tasks related to the running of the setting. You will need creative thinking skills and an open mind to work within our unique setting. A prior understanding and belief in self-directed and democratic education would be preferable but a willingness to throw everything you thought about education out of the window and learn about and respect a radical approach is essential. You will be key to the success of EKS and will help to establish and improve systems that fit within our unique parameters of working.
To be successful you need to be a super organised individual, who is a self-motivated learner/worker and can show initiative at all times. You will have prior experience in running an office and developing office systems. However, this role will likely challenge all preconceptions or experiences you may have previously had in other office positions, so an ability to adapt quickly will be essential. You will be working closely alongside the EKS Business Co-ordinator who will be offsite, as well as the core staff team and community members onsite. You will need great communication skills and will be communicating regularly with parents, staff, students and directors, as well as suppliers and external partners.
The salary for this position starts at £19,760 pro-rata plus travel expenses if applicable, with a firm view to increasing this as our project grows. For further details, check the specification.
If only I lived closer!! This role and the whole organisation sounds brilliant!
